LVD covers electrical equipment within voltage limits (50-1000V AC / 75-1500V DC): CE marking and essential safety objectives.

Scope

Applies to electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current (Art. 1).

Obligations for the manufacturer

  • Affix CE marking and draw up the EU Declaration of Conformity
  • Meet the essential safety objectives (Annex I): electric shock, fire, mechanical, radiation protection
  • Keep technical documentation for 10 years
